GAY
NEW ORLEANS BARS & NIGHTLIFE
No American city places such a premium on pleas ure as New Orleans. From swank hotel lounges to
pumping dance clubs, refined jazz clubs and decadent Bourbon Street bars, this city is serious about frivolity. And famous for it. Partying is more than an occasional indulgence in New Orleans -- it's a lifestyle.
New Orleans is a city where many bars never closed, and most had happy hour from 4-9 p.m. Some of the French Quarter and Faubourg Marigny bars even had a second happy hour from 5-9 a.m. Anytime is a good time to sit on or above (look for balconies)
Bourbon Street and watch the colorful scene pass by. Drinking on the street is legal and prevalent, and carrying your drink from one bar to another in a plastic to-go cup is acceptable.

LAFITTE
901 Bourbon St., New Orleans, Louisiana
504-522-8397
The Daddy Of 'em All. Lafitte's is the oldest Gay bar in the country and has a long and interesting history.
Lafitte's features two floors of music and video. Downstairs you'll find the main bar. Upstairs you'll find a pool table and the balcony! During Carnival, because the Gay crowd dominates this part of Bourbon Street, people tend to be a little more "adventurous" in their pursuit of beads and the balcony at Lafitte's can be quite
"entertaining." Lafitte's is popular all year round and is open 24 hours a day. |
